Starbucks

NEVER would I get Starbucks in New York. Occasionally when I want a dessert, I may get a coffee frap--double blended. Or, when I need ice water. I mean, why would I? There are too many amazing coffee shops. My favorite place right before I left was Jack's on West 10th in the West Village.

I find myself getting starbucks 3x a day here in Los Angeles. I think is my way of combating homesickness. It's kinda like how American tourists never go to McDonald's in the states, but go to Mickey D's when they are abroad since it's something they recognize and can connect with. Starbucks is the same, here in LA or in NY: The really bad ice coffee they have. The way they ask for your name and write your drink order on the cup. The green straws. The selection of Tazo drinks, yogurts, and fruit plates. Oh and THE BAGELS. One of the few convenient places to get bagels.

I also learned that if you register a gift card, after 5 drinks, you start getting free refills on coffee or tea, free shots of syrup, free soy, and other little perks. After 30 drinks, they mail you your own Starbucks Gold Card.

There's also no good coffee in LA so I'm actually left with not much choice. Maybe it's time to invest in a Nespresso....
